When attempting a GRT restore from an Archive database the job fails with Cannot restore one or more mailboxes

Problem

When attempting to restore an email from an Archive database the error "Unable to restore any content for [mailbox name] because the Microsoft Exchange database that hosts that mailbox is offline or the mailbox doesn't exist" is returned.
 

Restore of an email from the Mailbox database completes successfully.

 

Error Message

 V-79-57344-764

Unable to restore any content for [mailbox name] because the Microsoft Exchange database that hosts that mailbox is offline or the mailbox doesn't exist.

 

Solution

Perform a redirected restore to the same Exchange server and change the mailbox name to use just the mailbox alias.
