V-79-57344-42015: P2V conversion on a Windows 2008 SP2 Hyper-V server fails with error 0xe000a41f - Failed to create the metadata file on the remote server


During a Physical to Virtual (P2V) conversion job targeted to a Windows 2008 SP2 Hyper-v host, the job fails.

Only Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V hosts are supported for physical-to-virtual (P2V) conversions.

Windows Server 2008 SP2 Hyper-V hosts are not supported for P2V.



For P2V conversions both of the following rules apply:

1. The Backup Exec media server must be installed on Windows Server 2008 SP2 or 2008 R2

2. The target host is running Windows Server 2008 R2

The target host is the location where the virtual machine is being created.

Note: Windows Server 2008 SP2 is not supported as a target host.
