Event 8390 - Ran Out of Memory - 0x800700e


Memory usage for DirectoryService.exe increases over a period of time causing ‘ran out of memory’ errors in the event viewer.  The Enterprise Vault Server memory usage will increase at a rapid rate.  This is will be illustrated specifically via the DirectoryService.exe process increasing its memory consumption.

Event ID: 6606
Event Category: Storage Delete
Description: Failed to process all expired items in Vault Store. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation. [0x8007000e] Vault Store Name: Store1


This issue can be caused by a large number of archives (over 100,000) in a single vault store.  When StorageDelete (SD) runs, a large amount of redundant data is retrieved from the database. This increases the memory requirement of the SD process. When the SD task runs out of available resources an 'Out of memory' message will be error will be generated in the event viewer associated with event 8390 and 6606.
