An Exchange Mailbox PST restore to a shared folder restores successfully but the PST is not on the share


When restoring a mailbox to PST from an Exchange backup to a Shared Folder, the restore is successful but the file is not in the desired location.  The file is restored to the media server in the directory C:\Windows\SysWow64\<ShareName>.


This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 2014 or later versions.

A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.

To resolve this issue and receive the new Backup Exec improvements please upgrade to the current version of Backup Exec.

Copy the PST from the location C:\Windows\SysWow64\<ShareName> to the desired location.
