GRT restore from a differential backup set of a VMware virtual machine fails with error "Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images"

Problem

When attempting to restore GRT data from a differential backup of a VMware virtual machine, the restore may fail with the error below.

Error Message

Job Log error:
Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images:

Debug Log Error:
[fsys\shared]        - VDDK-Log: DiskLibProvider_GetDisk: Open successful - index 0.
[fsys\shared]        - VDDK-Log: Partition:Invalid sector magic number.
[fsys\shared]        - VDDK-Log: Disk number 1 has been skipped because of errors while reading partition table
[fsys\shared]        - VDDK-Log: Partition:Invalid sector magic number.
[fsys\shared]        - VDDK-Log: Disk number 1 has been skipped because of errors while reading dynamic disks header or LDM database is corrupted
 

Solution

A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned in this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.
