Problem

Backup of Virtual Machines using the Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure (AVVI) to QNAP TS-809 Series NAS Disk Storage fails with “0xe0009585 - Unable to open a disk of the virtual machine"

Error Message

Beremote Debug on the Backup Exec Media Server shows the following :

[2456] 2012-12-13T13:43:21.437 [fsys\shared]        - Error Text: 'The file is too big for the filesystem' Error: '51539607573'

Solution

Workaround:

Run Non-GRT backups to Disk Storage configured on the QNAP NAS

OR


Run GRT backups to Local Disk Storage.
