After the successful restore of an Access Services published site, the site fails to load

If an Access database created outside the Sharepoint default Access templates is published in Sharepoint and backups performed with Backup Exec, a restored site may not load.

Error This application was designed in a version of Microsoft Access that is not compatible with the version of Access Services installed on this server.  The application must be opened in a compatible version of Microsoft Access and upgraded manually in order to be used on this server. Click Open in Access to open the file in Microsoft Access. Correlation ID: 25b14674-12c7-4d54-97d3-


At this time, only the default Access DB templates provided with Sharepoint are fully supported for restore.  These include the following Sharepoint Access templates:

  • Assets Web Database
  • Charitable Contributions Web Database
  • Contacts Web Database
  • Issues Web Database
  • Projects Web Database

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time.
