Problem

Exchange 2007 GRT restore fails with status code 5 (the restore failed to recover the requested file) and 13 (file read failed).

 

Error Message

Activity Monitor > Job Details:

HINT: NBFSD log is located in <install path>\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\nbfsd\ folder. Create the folder if it does not exist and re-run the restore.

 

Cause

Exchange GRT restore using Data Domain Storage Unit is only supported from NetBackup 7.5 onwards.

Refer to 000085740 for more detail.

 

Solution

Duplicate the GRT backup image back to Basic Disk storage unit and restore against this copy.

 


Applies To

  • NetBackup version 7.0.x.x / 7.1.x.x.
  • Granular backup goes to Basic Disk Storage Unit and later on duplicated to Data Domain (Open Storage) Storage Unit.
  • Restore is done against the duplicate copy in Data Domain.
