Clearwell Enterprise Vault Journal Collection Tasks hang at "Waiting for content retriever threads to exit..."

Problem

Either when attempting to stop an Enterprise Vault (EV) Journal collection the task remains in 'Stopping' status or the Collection appears hung.  Inspection of the Job Status log repeats the line "Waiting for content retriever threads to exit..." 
  

Error Message

"Waiting for content retriever threads to exit..." 
 

Cause

No checking mechanism was in place to 'clean up' idle threads.

 

Solution

Resolved in version 7.1.2 FIX2

WORKAROUND:

1.  Stop, then start the collection task for hung collections.
2.  Restart Clearwell services for collections stuck in 'Stopping' mode.
