Cause

This error can occur when:  

  1. A tape is not inserted in the backup device
  2. The tape cannot be loaded by the robotic arm
  3. An internal or standalone drive will not accept the media
  4. The tape is protected by overwrite or append periods

Solution

If eligible media is not inserted in the backup device, Veritas Backup Exec will produce an alert message and will prompt to insert media.    

If either Respond Yes or Respond No is clicked, the same alert will appear again and again.

Insert proper media in the backup device or click Respond Cancel to clear the error.

Note: When Respond Cancel is clicked, the operation is canceled , and Event ID 57744 is generated and registered in the Event Viewer.
