Restore job with VMware agent can fail when using Removable Cartridge Storage

Problem

A restore job with VMware agent would fail if all the following conditions were met.

  • Backing up to Removable Cartridge Storage (e.g. RDX)
  • Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) is enabled
  • Incremental or differential backups are used
  • Restoring a vm from the incremental or differential backup set

Final error: 0xe000958f - Failed to get the virtual machine disk details.
