Appliance sends Hardware Failure Notice

Problem

Customer receives email alert with this content:

Subject: PureDisk Appliance, pdapp01 Hardware Failure Notice

These are the issues with the PureDisk Appliance hardware:

TEMPERATURE 1 type : Intake Vent Temp

TEMPERATURE 1 temperature : 28.000 degrees C TEMPERATURE 1 lowwatermark : na degrees C
TEMPERATURE 1 highwatermark : na degrees C

Cause

There is a minor bug in the temperature monitoring code. When the HWM  and LWM  are both 'na', an event will be generated. The 'na' value is infrequently returned by the ipma monitor.

Solution

The alert will be infrequent and can be ignored. Actual HWM for an appliance is 70C, therefore 28C is well within operating tolerances.

This bug will be addressed in a future version of the product.
