Problem

Unable to use 'vxassist' command

Error Message

V-5-1-10128:Unable to use vxassist file

Cause

#vxdmpadm listenclosure all output

Plus system was reporting disk.info file corruption:
bash-2.05$ grep fffff etc/vx/disk.info | wc -l
159

Solution

First try:
# rm /etc/vx/disk.info
# rm /etc/vx/array.info
# vxconfigd –k –x syslog
.. then test vxassist.

If problem persist:
Rebuild the device tree
This is for a non clustered setup to clean the dev tree.
# cd /dev/vx/dmp
# rm *
# cd /dev/vx/rdmp
# rm *
# cd /etc/vx
# rm -rf *.info
# devfsadm –C <- Solaris only!!!
# vxconfigd –k –x syslog
Or
Once all the above items have been addressed perform a reconfiguration reboot.
# touch /reconfigure
# shutdown -i6 -y -g0
