Problem

Unable to post process the watchfile items due to abnormally large backlog in Watchfile

Error Message

Event: 13344 An error was detected while accessing the Vault Database {CADODataAccess::ExecuteSQLCommand} [.\ADODataAccess.cpp, lines (14) Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.

Cause

When StorageFileWatch queried a Vault Store database for savesets and SIS parts to be verified, the result set returned could be very large. In some cases, the result set could not be processed due to its size.

Solution

Description of solution
=======================
The query will be broken up into batches. StorageFileWatch will iterate through the whole range until all the entries are processed, skipping 'empty' batches if needed.

Installation instructions
===========================
On each Enterprise Vault server running an Enterprise Vault Storage service:
1. Stop the Enterprise Vault Storage service.
2. Once the Storage service has stopped, take a backup copy of "StorageFileWatch.exe", locatable in the Enterprise Vault installation folder (which by default is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterprise Vault").
3. Copy the updated "StorageFileWatch.exe", packaged in this hotfix, to the Enterprise Vault installation folder, replacing the original.

On the SQL server:
4. Run the script [2756210.sql] against each Vault Store database.

On each Enterprise Vault server running an Enterprise Vault Storage service:
5. Start the Enterprise Vault Storage service.


Note: If a new Vault Store is subsequently created, [2756210.sql] will need to be run against the corresponding Vault Store database to apply the fix to that Vault Store.


Uninstallation instructions

On each Enterprise Vault server running an Enterprise Vault Storage service:
1. Stop the Enterprise Vault Storage service.
2. Once the Storage service has stopped, replace the hotfixed version of "StorageFileWatch.exe" with the backup copy taken during installation of this hotfix.

On the SQL server:
3. Run the script [Undo 2756210.sql] against each Vault Store database.

On each Enterprise Vault server running an Enterprise Vault Storage service:
4. Start the Enterprise Vault Storage service.

 

Applies To

This issue affects Enterprise Vault 10.0.1.

Enterprise Vault 10.0.2 and later are not affected by this issue.
