In the Backup Exec 2012 Console, duplicate servers may be listed under the backup and restore tab. The duplicates would be by IP address, NetBios Name and Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).
The servers that exist as duplicates could have been backed up at one point prior to upgrading by NetBios name, IP address or FQDN, or they may have been manually added to the Backup Exec console.
If the duplicate servers are not the Media Server, then they can be removed by right clicking on them and choosing "Remove". However, if the server that is duplicated is the Media Server, the duplicate entries cannot be removed.
It is also possible that a restore of files from the server name where the files were originally backed up will only be available to be restored from one of the duplicate server names listed in the console.
The Backup Exec Media Server cannot be removed from the BE Console by design and having duplicate media server entries in the Backup Exec Console will not cause any functional problems with the product.
