Reviewing the job logs from a policy based Agent for VMware (AVVI) backup job that is sent directly to tape with Hardware Encryption enabled either shows that no Encryption was performed, or that Software Encryption was used (depending on the exact encryption settings in the policy templates). In the same environment a stand alone AVVI backup job with Hardware Encryption enabled does perform Hardware Encryption.
In all cases the job completes sucessfully.
