Problem

Force run of a scheduled backup job targeted to deduplication/OST device may report "No Media server with deduplication option license are available that have access to the job's target device"

Error Message

"No Media server with deduplication option license are available that have access to the job's target device. A license for this Backup Exec Agent or option must be purchased and installed on the targeted media server."

Cause

This is due to BEDB (Backup Exec Database) not been refreshed for the scheduled job after the Deduplication option license was added to the backup exec.

Solution

  1. Check if the Deduplication option running in trial period and has completed 60 days trial.
  2. If 60 days trial is over, add the dedup license and retry the job again.
  3. If the issue still persist upon force running the schedule backup job which is scheduled & storage device is deduplication storage folder or OST device, then  perform the step number 4.
  4. Recreate the backup job and re-run the job it should work fine.
