How to Backup NAS (Network Attached Storage) device CIFS Shares in Backup Exec without the NDMP Option.
To be able to backup CIFS Shares without the NDMP Option, perform the steps mentioned in one of the three workarounds listed below:
Disable NDMP on the device
Contact the vendors technical support to change the device's NDMP port from 10000 to another port such as 11001
Change the default NDMP port number used by the Backup Exec to a port other than port 10000.
NOTE: Changing the NDMP port on the Windows Media Server will require changing the NDMP port on all Remote Agent Servers running the Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows. See the related documents listed below on how to change the Backup Exec default NDMP port.
In Backup Exec go to Tools - Options - Network and Security and "Enable selection of user shares" (Figure 1)
Create a user defined selection to the device and backup the shares.
In addition to the above configurations, Backup Exec also requires that at least one Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) license is installed on the media server.
