Getting V-365-1-1 nagware messages even after installing valid license
CmdServer: WARNING V-365-1-1 This host is not entitled to run Veritas Storage Foundation/Veritas Cluster Server. As set forth in the End User License Agreement (EULA) you must complete one of the two options set forth below. To comply with this condition of the EULA and stop logging of this message, you have 1 days to either: - make this host managed by a Management Server (see http://go.symantec.com/sfhakeyless for details and free download), or - add a valid license key matching the functionality in use on this host using the command 'vxlicinst' and validate using the command 'vxkeyless set NONE'.
syslog: [ID 702911 daemon.alert] WARNING V-365-1-1 This host is not entitled to run Veritas Storage Foundation/Veritas Cluster Server.
The sixty days demo period since the Storage Foundation product installation has expired therefore the host needs to be put under VOM (Veritas Operations Manager) management or, a traditional license key for the needed Storage Foundation features must be installed.
The "vxkeyless set NONE" command didn't notify the new licensing mode to the Veritas Cluster Server CmdServer process.
If the warning messages are being logged because the Demo period expired the following two methods can be followed to stop logging.
Method 1: Install license keys using vxlicinst
- list the products with keyless
/opt/VRTS/bin/vxkeyless -v display or /opt/VRTSvlic/bin/vxkeyless -v display
SFCFSHAENT SF Cluster File System Enterprise Edition with Cluster Server
- verify the valid license and the features supported.
- disable the keyless mode
#/opt/VRTSvlic/bin/vxkeyless set NONE or /opt/VRTS/bin/vxkeyless set NONE
Remove: SF Cluster File System Enterprise Edition with Cluster Server
Continue (y/n)? y
NONE option is to clear all keyless licenses from the system.
Answer y to clear the keyless license key.
ATTENTION!! If the installed license key has less features than the keyless license, removing the keyless license will disable the additional features that are not part of the installed license. For example, if a valid license installed is for Storage Foundation for Cluster File System, removing keyless license for "SF Cluster File System Enterprise Edition with Cluster Server", will disable the features for Enterprise edition. Enterprise edition supports Oracle Database features which will therefore get disabled.
- install the license keys for the needed features
Method 2 (Recommended): Add the host under the VOM (Veritas Operations Manager) Central Server management control
- install and configure a VOM Central Server if not configured yet
- add the system under the VOM CS management control
For more details on Veritas Operations Manager product and to download the right packages for your platforms please refer to the link http://www.symantec.com/business/veritas-operations-manager
If the nagware warning logging still occurs even after applying the first method it means that the Veritas Cluster Server CmdServer process needs to be restarted to get the new license mode. To do that please run the commands below:
1. Stop the CmdServer process on all the nodes within the cluster
2. Restart the CmdServer on all the nodes
If the nagware warning logging still occurs even after restarting the CmdServer, re-read the license keys. To do that please run the command below:
1. Re-read the license keys
# /usr/sbin/vxdctl license init
This behavior is known and engineering is working to fix it in the future release
