After Disaster Recovery (DR), Public folder auto-enable targets no longer present, resulting in failure to archive from the previously auto-enabled folder targets

Problem

If the Public Folder Targets within the Vault Admin Console (VAC) do not contain auto-enabled targets off the Root target, and the existent Public Folders still contain the Enterprise Vault hidden message, the Public Folder Task will not recreate the auto-enabled targets.  Without the auto-enabled targets, the child Public Folders will not be archived.

Example:
Original Target : \ (Root), set as Auto-enabler.
- This will enable each Child folder under Root as individual Archives.

If the Child auto-enabled targets are no longer present, and the folders still contain the original hidden messages, the Public Folder Task will not regenerate the auto-enabled targets as it is thought that the folders are already enabled.

Error Message

When DTracing the PublicFolderTask process, the following may be observed:

(PublicFolderTask) <1584> EV:M CTaskControl::GetTarget - Entry not found in map [\AutoEnabledFolder] Current target count [1]
(PublicFolderTask) <1584> EV:M CPublicFolderTargetList::GetTarget[ByKey] - Path [\AutoEnabledFolder] Not Found in Map. Note this is a valid condition for New Folders

Cause

If the PublicFolderTarget table in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database no longer contains auto-enabled targets, and the Public Folders still have their associated hidden message (IPM.EnterpriseVault.Filter), the Public Folder Archiving Task will not recreate the auto-enable targets.

Workaround:

Delete original hidden messages from auto-enabled target folders. This can be performed by utilizing the following article to remove the IPM.EnterpriseVault.Filter message from the previously auto-enabled Public Folder.

Solution

Veritas Technologies LLC has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the current version(s) listed under the Product(s) Section of this article. Veritas Technologies LLC is committed to product quality and satisfied customers.
 
There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time.
