GRT backups to a deduplication folder on a system whose name is longer than 31 characters fail

Problem

Backup Exec uses the servername as the name of a mount point that is used for GRT backups to a deduplication folder.  If the server name is more than 31 characters, the name is being truncated, and the GRT portion of the job fails.

Cause

To determine if this problem is occurring on the system, open a command box (Start -> Run -> cmd) and enter the command

net use

This command should list out a share for the PureDisk Virtual Filesystem with a name of:

\\.pdvfs\<servername>

For example, if the servername is "AServerWithAVeryLongNameThatIsMoreThan31Characters", the share that is displayed should be:

 \\.pdvfs\AServerWithAVeryLongNameThatIsMoreThan31Characters

However, this problem causes the name to be

\\.pdvfs\AServerWithAVeryLongNameThatIsM
