Problem

How to modify Track Alignment values manually in Storage Foundation for Windows.

Cause

The correct value for a specific array make and model has not been detected correctly or a firmware update on the array has caused Storage Foundation for Windows to lose the correct value.

Solution

Please locate the following registry key where Vendor and Product ID represents the specific array in use.

32-bit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VxSvc\CurrentVersion\VolumeManager\TrackAlignment\%VENDORID%\%PRODUCTID%\Setting

64-bit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Veritas\VxSvc\CurrentVersion\VolumeManager\TrackAlignment\%VENDORID%\%PRODUCTID%\Setting

Highlight Setting and change the value in decimal.

The Storage Agent needs to be restarted to update the value.

- See 000088370 for details on how to restart the Storage Agent.

Create a new volume and the correct specified value will be used.
