Problem

The Enterprise Vault Storage Verification and Repair Tool (EVSVR) is unable to repair (DeleteSurplusReferences) pre-8.0 Collected items that return "Sharer not found".

Error Message

When performing a Verify, using EVSVR, against an affected location, items in this scenario will return <Sharer not found>.

Cause

Cause of <Sharer not Found>:

In EV 2007 and older, Single Instance Storage (SIS) was available only at the partition level.  When sharing occurred between multiple whole items, each subsequent item stored would update the original file with the 'Sharer information'.  If a disaster recovery occurred on storage, these additional Sharer references may no longer be present in the restored version of these files.


Workaround:

If it is necessary to repair these discrepancies prior to a released fix, please open a Support ticket for further assistance.

Solution

Veritas Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the version(s) of the product(s) referenced in this article. 

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a cumulative hotfix or service pack in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time, but is not scheduled for any release. Applies To

This issue only affects environments where a disaster recovery occurred in versions prior to Enterprise Vault (EV) 8.0 and where Collections were also enabled.
