When running a backup job the backup fails to backup valid directories if a directory level wildcard exclusion using double asterisk (**) is defined in the Backup selection list or Global Excludes list in Backup Exec.
The backup process is looking for a subset of the string supplied in the Path exclude and excluding folders incorrectly
On a server if there is a folder called VAR with two sub-folders called TEMP and KEMP.
A backup job is defined to backup this VAR directory but with a PATH type exclude: \\*\*\**temp and File Type exclude: *.*. (FIGURE 1) and (FIGURE 2).
It is observed that the backup completes successfully but the entire contents of the VAR folder are excluded (FIGURE 3)
It should ideally exclude only the TEMP sub-folder, but it excludes the KEMP sub-folder as well.
The backup process is looking for a subset (EMP) of the string supplied in the Path exclude (TEMP) and excluding folders incorrectly.
