Problem

The AIX NFS server default parameter nfs_max_threads, that is set at boot time to 3891, is modified to 10 during VCS cluster startup. This parameter specifies the maximum number of NFS server threads that are created to service incoming NFS requests in AIX.

Error Message

In the Veritas Cluster engine.log file, the following message is reported:

Setting nfs_max_threads to 10

Cause

At boot time, the nfs_max_threads paramter is set to the default value of 3891

# nfso -o nfs_max_threads
nfs_max_threads = 3891

but if the NFS Server is a VCS defined resource, the nfs_max_threads NFS server parameter is set by the VCS NFS Server agent to the Nsservers attribute that has a value of 10 by default.

This action is logged in the engine_A.log with the following message during the resource online: Setting nfs_max_threads to 10

Solution

The VCS NFS Server resource attribute Nsservers can be modified in the VCS cluster configuration to the required value.

Applies To

AIX environment with a Veritas Cluster server installed with an NFS Server resource defined.
