Backup job fails with error "Error e00084af - The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed". Job log shows that the directory iterating is "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Application Data".

Error Message

Error e00084af - The directory or file was not found, or could not be accessed

The job log reveals that the 'C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Application Data' - file folder will be iterating as below: 

 

Cause

The folder 'C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Application Data' is a Junction Point set in Windows 2008 to enable backward compatibility for software built for Windows 2003/2000 Server. The path will redirect itself to the same path again. 

Solution

Open the Backup Job Properties

Select Advanced (Below the left panel title 'Settings')

Deactivate/uncheck the following two options:


- Back up files and directories by following junction points
- Back up files and directories by following symbolic links (unchecked by default)
