The Backup Exec Remote Agent service crashes when attempting to open a selection list in an environment that is migrating from Exchange 2003 to 2010.


When a new selection list is opened to browse resources within an environment, none are visible.  

Additionally, the beremote service crashes and must be manually restarted. 

Error Message

 'Connection to server failed.  Hit <F5> to retry."

Application event log reads:

 A servername-beremoteXX.log from the media server will reveal the following, plus active directory information for the Exchange resources, directly prior to the beremote crash:

This issue has been resolved by Backup Exec 2010 R2 Hotfix 148347


Applies To

Environments running Backup Exec 2010 R2 which are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2003 to 2010 are affected by this issue.
