Backup jobs with command files get stuck in 'Assigning' state when using Backup Exec System Recovery Manager (BESRM).


Backup jobs that are centrally managed using Backup Exec System Recovery Manager (BESRM) get stuck in 'Assigning' state (Figure 1). This is only seen when the backup job is configured to use command files. The backup job never gets successfully assigned to the client machine(s).

A supported hotfix has been made available for this issue. Please contact Symantec Technical Support to obtain this fix. This hotfix has not yet gone through any extensive Q&A testing. Consequently, if you are not adversely affected by this problem and have a satisfactory temporary workaround in place, we recommend that you wait for the public release of this hotfix.
