Lusetup.exe has failed error v-16-13-100

Problem

Upgrading or installing Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW) and Storage Foundation for Windows High Availability (SFW HA) fails while installing Live Update package lusetup.exe.

Error Message

Lusetup.exe has failed error   v-16-13-100

Cause

Threre is a possible conflict between the previously installed version of Symantec antivirus Live Update and the version of Live Update SFW / SFW HA is attempting to install on the server.

Solution

Please perform the following steps to add the reference count for LiveUpdate so the SFW / SFW HA reinstall will skip it.

1. Open registry on failed node

2. Create following 2 keys under
64 bit: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Veritas\VPI\Components\sym.comp.lu.client"
32 bit: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VPI\Components\sym.comp.lu.client"

         vrts.soln.sfwha.server
        vrts.soln.sfwha.gui

3. Reinstall SFW-HA 5.1SP1 from the DVD instead of Repair, it will skip all the components which are already installed including LiveUpdate and continue after that.

It is recommended to reboot the machine before reinstall if not rebooted after last failure.

Applies To

Servers where Symantec Live Update has been previously installed when attempting an upgrade / installation of SFW and SFW HA products that include Live Update.
