Top and Side Link Bar differ from original after a deleted site is restored

When performing a restore job of a deleted site in Microsoft SharePoint 2007, Top and Side Link Bar differ from original though the restore job completes successfully. (Figure 1 and 2)  


Top Link Bar can be fixed by Site Settings > Navigation > Global Navigation > Display the same navigation items as the parent site.  (Figure 3)

Side Link Bar cannot be fixed.  Editing Site Settings > Navigation > Navigation Editing and Sorting cause the following error. (Figure 4 and 5)

The page _layouts/viewlsts.aspx?ShowSites=1 has been modified by another author on <date and time>.

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time.
