This error is occurring during GRT backups of Exchange servers. While the root cause of the problem has not yet been determined, the following have been seen to reduce the occurrences of the issue.
- Run a non GRT full backup of the Exchange server. This keeps the backup process from mounting the image and encountering this issue. The full backup also ensures that the transaction log files get backed up. Subsequent backups then have fewer transaction logs which may be a factor in this issue.
- Reboot the media server. If the PDVFSService.exe service crashes, it can cause problems during subsequent backups. It requires a reboot of the system to clear out this condition.
A hotfix is now available for this issue in the current version(s) of the product(s) mentioned at the end of this article. Refer to the Hotfix link under Related Documents at the end of this article to obtain the hotfix needed to resolve the issue.
