Solution

This error can occur if the SMTP server does not support the authentication method chosen when SMTP email was configured in Veritas Backup Exec System Recovery. The solution for this issue is to change the authentication type to Anonymous:

1.  Go to the Tasks drop-down menu and select Options

2.  Click on "SMTP Email"

3.  Change "SMTP Authentication" to Anonymous

4.  Click Apply and then OK
