Cause

Possible causes could be as listed below:

  1. Error "Insufficient disk space on datastore" on Vmware although the datastore has plenty of free space
  2. Able to copy the vmdk files using WINSCP.
  3. While redirecting the restore, "Cannot read the hosts and cluster view on the virtualcenter server" occurs when entering the name of the vCenter or the ESX host name or IP address.
  4. Redirection using system logon or the root account fails.
  5. The restore job runs successfully but nothing gets restored, Although it shows the vmdk files present on the VSphere were restored.

Solution

1. Confirm that all the XML files are present and accessible in the IMG folder from the backup job.
2. Start "Backup Exec" as Administrator or disable "User Access Control" on the media server.
