Enterprise Vault fails to archive or import a Calendar item with 'empty' attachments and may report Event ID 6469, "An exception has occurred."

Calendar items that contain an 'empty' attachment, such as an e-mail (or MSG) file that is completely blank, will fail to archive from a mailbox and will not import from a PST file.

Error Message

A D-Trace of the MigratorServer process when attempting to import a PST with such items may appear similar to the following:

Mailbox archiving:
Remove the problem attachment from the message prior to archiving.

PST import:
Change PST import policy to exclude the IPM.Appointment message class.  This will simply move all calendar items to the mailbox at the end of the migration.

Symantec Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the version(s) of the product(s) referenced in this article. 

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a cumulative hotfix or service pack in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time, but is not scheduled for any release.
