Event ID: 7000 - The Symantec Private Branch Exchange service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the path specified.

Problem

Symantec Private Branch Exchange service fails to start and VEA is unable to open.  

Error Message

Event Type: Error

Event ID: 7000
Description: The Symantec Private Branch Exchange service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the path specified.

Solution

1. Verify that pbx_exchange.exe and pbxservice.cmd are in the following location.
 
a. C:\Program Files\Veritas\VxPBX\bin
 
2. Check the “Image Path” of the following registry key.
 
a. HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VRTSpbx  
 
3. The path should be "C:\Program Files\Veritas\VxPBX\bin\pbx_exchange.exe"
 
4. Update the path and reinstall PBX using the following procedure
 
a. Locate “Symantec Private Branch Exchange.msi”
 
i. Search for the file. The default location is “C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas Shared\VPI\{F834E070-8D71-4c4b-B688-06964B88F3E8}\pkgs\32\common”
 
b. Right click "Symantec Private Branch Exchange.msi" and  select "Uninstall".
 
c. Once the uninstall is complete right click on  "Symantec Private Branch Exchange.msi" and select "Install".
 
5. After the install completes start the Symantec Private Branch Exchange Service
