ProblemThe following warning message appears in the VERITAS Cluster Server Event Log: "VCS:10526:IpmHandle::recv peer exited errno 10054"
Error MessageVCS:10526:IpmHandle::recv peer exited errno 10054
SolutionWhen opening the VERITAS Cluster Server Log Desk, the warning message displayed above appears. The warning message appears by design; it is informational and is not indicative of a problem.
The Cluster Server High Availability Daemon (HAD) waits on socket connections for communication attempts from Cluster Server Cluster Manager. When a connection is established and the client sends a request to either retrieve or change attributes, the engine processes the command. Once the command is processed, the engine sends the reply and the client closes the connection. The warning message that is posted in the Cluster Server Log Desk is nothing more than an informational alert advising that a client (Cluster Manager) disconnected.
The 10054 is a Win32 error code regarding WSAECONNRESET. Microsoft explains the message as follows:
"A 10054 socket error in this context is not an indication of a problem, but is currently known and expected behavior. It happens any time a WinSock connection is closed down (TCP/IP or TP4, whether clean or dirty). Although this event by itself may be confusing, it is not harmful. Winsock Error code 10054 (WSAECONNRESET) indicates a 'Connection reset by peer.'"
