This section describes how to use SmartMove with Thin Provisioning that improves the synchronization performance and uses thin storage efficiently.

To use SmartMove with Thin Provisioning

  1. Mount the volume as the VxFS file system type. For example:

    On AIX:

    # mount -V vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/oradg/oravol1 /oravol1 

    On HP-UX:

    # mount -F vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/oradg/oravol1 /oravol1

    On Linux:

    # mount -t vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/oradg/oravol1 /oravol1

    On Solaris:

    # mount -F vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/oradg/oravol1 /oravol1
  2. Run the following command:

    # sync
  3. Mirror the volume. For example:

    # vxassist -g oradg mirror oravol1
