Muhimbi Imaging Tool Removal Script

Description

Occasionally Muhimbi Imaging Tool may fail to install or uninstall properly.  When this happens the installer may not work saying Muhimbi is already installed and then your left with a bad install of Muhimbi that cannot be upgraded, installed over top of, or uninstalled.  Cleanup of Muhimbi keys/values from the registry will then be required to resolve issue.  There are hundreds of these registry entries which can take hours to do manually.

The tool will use a folder for the purpose of backing up any areas of the registry prior to being removed.  By default this location is set to D:\RegExport and can be changed when asked by the script. 

A condition could occur: 

1.  If the folder already exist, it must be empty or else the script will exit,

2.  If the folder does not exist, the script will try to create it, if this fails then the script will exit

Notice:  This tool is not supported by Veritas eDiscovery product team.  All standard methods to install or uninstall Muhimbi Imaging Tool software should be used prior to using this script.

Instructions:

1. Right Click on the download file, located at the bottom of this article, and 'Save link as' , change the extension from .TXT to .PS1

2. Create a folder on the server (C:\Tools) and place the .ps1 file into that folder.

3. Navigate to the folder containing the .ps1 script

4. Right click the .ps1 file and select 'Run with PowerShell'
Note: If the Execution Policy information appears, select 'Y' to proceed

5. You will be given an opportunity to change the registry export location if you like or can press [Enter] to use the default location.

6.  Once the script completes.  Restart the server.
