Problem

NetBackup client fails to install while uninstalling an old package 'SYMCpddea'.

Error Message

          on SERVERNAME.

ERROR:   A failure was detected running

Cause

There is an issue with the package manager uninstalling the SYMCpddea-7.0.0.0-0.x86_64 package.

Verify this by using the OS command.

Example:

# rpm --test -ev SYMCpddea-7.0.0.0-0.x86_64
libreadline.so.5()(64bit) is needed by (installed) fvwm2-2.5.26-1.25.x86_64

The SYMCpddea package cannot be removed because there is a dependency on this specific library, libreadline.so.5, by another package.

Solution

Run the OS command to remove package without scanning for all the dependencies.

Example:

# rpm -ev --nodeps SYMCpddea-7.0.0.0-0.x86_64

Retry the NetBackup Client installation and it should be successful.
