Problem

Installing new nbftsrvr binary on FT Media Server, AIX SAN Client does no longer sees the Archive Python devices

Error Message

No error messages are found.

Cause

Since the target driver is replaced, the AIX Clients loose the path to the device. It then required to force AIX to rediscover the devices.

Solution

Take the following steps on the AIX Client host:

# rmdev -Rdl fcs#
# cfgmgr

# devscan

Note: If FT Media Server is upgraded from 8.1.1 to 8.1.2 a new target driver is made available. 8.1.2 uses a new scst driver that replaces the old windrvr6. After an upgrade the above steps are recommended for AIX Clients.

EEB 3982949 also replaces the scst driver. This EEB will allow the target driver to acknowledge process logins. After applying EEB 3982949, run the above steps on AIX Client to help the host rediscover the Archive Python devices.
