vCloud Restore: When restoring to another location the virtual machine is restored to the data store with the most free space
In Netbackup Self Service versions 8.1 and 8.1.2 A customer attempts a restore of a large vCloud Virtual Machine into a different vDC. By default, the VM is initially restored to the same vCenter Datastore as the original machine.
NetBackup then checks if there is sufficient space in the correct location, before moving the files there. If there is insufficient space in the original location, then this can bring down all Virtual machines on the Datastore.
The solution in this fix is that NetBackup Self Service now adds the “-vcdlfree” switch to the nbrestorevm commands when it restores vCloud machines to an alternate location. This ensures that the original vCenter restore is done to the datastore with the most free space, reducing the risk of any virtual machines becoming unavailable.
