You can configure the Access 3340 Appliance (version 7.4.2) in a non-DNS environment.

  1. Power on the Access 3340 Appliance.
  2. Log in to both the appliance nodes one after the other. The default username/password is admin/P@ssw0rd.
  3. From the Main_Menu go to the Network view. Use the following commands to add the  two appliance nodes and the CallHome and SMTP server details:
The following example shows how to add the two appliance nodes with IP address 10.182.26.83 and 10.182.26.85 and short host name nbapp880 and nbapp881
    Hosts Add 10.182.26.83  nbapp880
    Hosts Add 10.182.26.85 nbapp881
The following example shows how to add the SMTP and CallHome server details where the CallHome server is api.appliance.veritas.com  52.11.107.2 and SMTP server is nbpipeline-comn.engba.veritas.com 10.80.96.6:
    Hosts Add 52.11.107.2 api.appliance.veritas.com
    Hosts Add 10.80.96.6 nbpipeline-comn.engba.veritas.com
    Hosts Add 35.161.31.225 receiver.appliance.veritas.com
  4. Use the Settings > Alerts > Email SenderID Set Address command to set the email ID of the sender. This is required for CallHome to work correctly.
  5. Using the command-line interface, verify that the Callhome server details are enabled.
    Alerts> CallHome Show
  6. Configure the hostname of the node.
    Network> Hostname Set Name
  7. Run the initial configuration. Go to Manage> Cluster> Configure. The DNS input is a required field, but you can provide any IP address for this field. Since the DNS query first checks the /etc/hosts file and then checks the DNS server, you can provide any IP address for the DNS field.
  8. After the cluster is set up successfully, you are required to manually perform the steps to configure the Veritas Access software.
Refer to the Veritas Access Installation Guide on SORT for more details.
  9. Login to both the appliance nodes.
  10. Go to Support> Maintenance. Then type elevate.
  11. Update the /etc/hosts file to include the media server host details on both the cluster nodes.
Note: If a faulted node is changed, the changes are replicated automatically to the replaced node.
