Problem
vxdclid coredumps encountered on VIOM 7.2 and 7.3 MHs (Managed Hosts) running Solaris, Aix and Linux following the installation of VxVM patch (eg hotfix) on the MH.
Error Message
Cause
VxVM and VIOM rely on the VIOM vxdclid plugin to interact correctly. This plugin is based on the VxVM version and so the introduction of a new VxVM version may cause the vxdclid process to coredump. A new plugin may need to be put in place to prevent further coredumps.
Solution
If vxdclid coredumps are encountered on a VIOM MH following the installation of a VxVM patch, the following steps would be recommended:
1. Capture the vxgetcore output from two of the vxdclid coredumps
/opt/VRTSspt/vxgetcore/vxgetcore -c <full path to the vxdclid coredump>
2. To prevent vxdclid coredumps from being generated, stop the vxdclid process by running the following command:
/opt/VRTSsfmh/adm/dcliunsetup.sh
Confirm that the vxdclid process is not running in the 'ps -ef' output
3. Contact Veritas Support and provide them with the vxgetcore outputs captured in Step 1. The vxdclid coredumps can then be examined by Veritas Support and (if needed) a new plugin provided.
