Backup Exec software can be licensed either by typing in an Entitlement ID or by importing a License File.
An update maybe required to be able to type in an Entitlement ID for specfic versions of Backup Exec. (Figure 1)
Backup Exec software can be licensed either by typing in an Entitlement ID or by importing a License File. There is a change to entering an Entitlement ID that requires an update to Backup Exec. Backup Exec 20 users will automatically receive this update if the Backup Exec server is configured to use Veritas Update. Backup Exec 16 users must manually download this update if they wish add new licenses by entering an Entitlement ID. The required updates for both Backup Exec 20 and 16 can be manually downloaded by following the appropriate links in Article 100019916.
NOTE: For Backup Exec versions 15, 2014 and older, entering an Entitlement ID will no longer connect to the Veritas Entitlement Management System (VEMS) portal to automate downloading and importing a License file. Importing a License File continues to work in all versions of Backup Exec. License files can be manually downloaded from the VEMS portal, then imported in the Backup Exec console in all versions of Backup Exec.
