The NetBackup appliance 3.1.1 software upgrade package files have been updated and are ready for download and upgrade.
The updated version 3.1.1 upgrade RPM resolve the following issues:
- Appliances that once used software versions 220.127.116.11 and earlier that were later upgraded to versions 2.7.x or 3.x can fail an upgrade to version 3.1.1 because the boot partition does not have enough free space.
- When upgrading from versions 3.0 and earlier, if the unallocated size on a storage shelf is less than 100GB, the preflight check reports the following failure which prevents the upgrade:
Can't extend /config to 100GB.
- When upgrading an appliance that has the STIG option enabled, the GRUB user name and password prompts appear each time the appliance reboots during the upgrade.
- After an upgrade from version 3.1 to 3.1.1, the Appliance Management menu is unavailable. This issue prevents the ability to add more appliances as either a management server or an agent.
In addition to the above issues, an EEB is also included in the updated RPM that addresses a NetBackup MSDP fingerprinting issue. There is no need to install the EEB separately after upgrading to 3.1.1 using the updated RPM. For details about the EEB, contact Veritas Technical Support and ask the representative to refer to Article ID 100041392 NetBackup 8.1.x MSDP Data Conversion.
If you have already installed 3.1.1, you do not need to take any action.
If you have previously downloaded the 3.1.1 upgrade RPM, do not upgrade your appliances with that file. Download the updated upgrade RPM for installation.
