Problem

Appliance HA Configuration prompts for reissue token when adding second node, even though there is no certificate yet issued for second node.

Example configuration:

nbhaclus - Virtual Name
nb5340n1 - Primary Node
nb5340n2 - Secondary Node

Error Message

- [Info] This operation will add the node nb5340n2 as the partner node and complete the high availability configuration.
For more information, refer to the NetBackup Appliance High Availability Reference Guide.

>> Do you want to continue? [yes, no] (no) yes

- [Info] Reissue token is mandatory as a certificate is already issued to this host. Revoke the existing certificate if it is active and map this host name to the associated host ID.

Cause

A host name mapping entry was erroneously added for the secondary node nb5340n2 to the nb5340n1, nbhaclus entry.

Solution

  1. Cancel the operation (CTRL+C),
  2. remove the host name mapping for the second node
    • # nbhostmgmt –delete -host <Node2 Hostname> –mappingname <clustername>

      Example:

      # nbhostmgmt –delete -host nb5340n2 –mappingname nbhaclus
  3. re-do the add of the second node.

If you had proceeded as suggested, and revoked the HostID Certificate associated with the virtual name, refer to the related Knowledge Base Article: While configuring NetBackup 5330 for High Availability, security certificate is revoked on the primary node.
