Unable to browse NetBackup images for restore. Unable to obtain list of backup images using specified search criteria.

Problem

When attempting to browse images via the NetBackup Backup, Archive and Restore GUI, no images are returned and a dialog box with the following message appears.

Error Message

Unable to obtain list of backup images using specified search criteria.  ERROR: pipe close failed

Cause

This problem can occur if there are multiple servers in the client's SERVER list and the master server to which the backups were written has not been properly selected in the "Server to use for backups and restores" field of the Backup, Archive and Restore GUI.

This field can be located in the GUI by navigating to File -> Specify NetBackup Machines and Policy Type.

Solution

Ensure that the correct master server is listed in the "Server to use for backups and restores" field.
