ProblemPerforming the restore of data backed up with older versions of Backup Exec (Version 2010 R1 and prior) may take an excessively long time before data begins to flow from the backup media.
CauseA cataloging change between older versions of Backup Exec and newer ones can cause the restore operation to turn off the setting for fast access of data. When this fast access setting is turned off, instead of quickly moving to the location on media for data to restore, the media will be scanned file by file until the restore data is located causing a significant slowdown in .
SolutionThis issue is resolved in Backup Exec 16 or later versions.
To resolve this issue and receive the new Backup Exec improvements please upgrade to the current version of Backup Exec .

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article.
