The Enterprise Vault service is not available when browsing to Search.asp

Problem

"The Enterprise Vault service is not available" when browsing to Search.asp as the Vault Service Account on the Enterprise Vault Server. This occurs under the VSA account when attempting to access the search.asp page on the local ev server.

Error Message

"The Enterprise Vault service is not available"

Cause

In some cases if Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled it will block access to ASP pages.

Solution

Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration

Windows 2003:

• Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs
• Click Add/Remove Windows Components
• A window will pop-up, click the check mark next to Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration (to uncheck it).

Windows 2008:

• Go to Server Manager.
• Under Security Information select Configure IE ESC.
• Select Off and click OK.
• Close IE (if open) and reopen browser.

Windows 2012:

• Go to Server Manager.
• Select Local Server (The server you are currently on and the one that needs IE Enhanced Security disabled)
• On the right side of the Server Manager, you will find the IE Enhanced Security Configuration Setting. (The default is On)
• You have two settings that can be disabled, one only affects the Administrators and the other all users. Make your selection to Off for Administrators, Users or both.
