Problem

Trying to reconfigure tape devices through the Device Configuration wizard the following pop-up
error prevents the wizard from progressing:

SQL query returned syntax error or access violation.  The EMM server failed to process the request

Error Message

In addition to the above message, the nbemm log (OID = 111) shows:
   [DbConnection::Fetch] SQL - retval=EMM_ERROR_SQLNoDataFound(2007031) retdal=100 native=<0> sqlerror=<> sqlstate=<>
   [ConnectionManager::ReleaseMSRConnection] LastErrorCode 2007031, bDbUp true

Cause

In this environment, one out of two tape libraries had been consistently providing problems.
At this time one out of the two tape drives in that library was DOWN and disabled.

Solution

The SAN zoning was altered to exclude the troublesome library unit and the Device Configuration progressed without further issue.
